A hiss under the bushes
sending fear shooting through
the strongest human’s spine.
The soft ground rubs against
the scaly body, as it slithers.
Slithers in search for the next
unsuspecting prey, waiting to strike.
A green as the undergrowth,
the bounty hunter for the devil
with its fangs bared, armed with venom.
Cold blooded reptiles, size doesn’t matter
the smallest can bring down elephants.
You’d think that those are the only kinds of snakes
you’d be wrong.
